Belmont Day 2025
Slew, on June 11,1977, you won the Belmont Stakes, and you were the first horse to win the Triple Crown while undefeated. That day, you fulfilled your destiny. We were so proud of you.
We were confident on Belmont Day because you loved Belmont Park. You were home. You always need racing luck, but you won the Champagne Stakes at Belmont as a two-year-old going a mile in 1:34 2/5.
On Belmont Day, we didn't count on you being late to the paddock. We kept looking for you. Billy was late, but you finally arrived with Billy, Chet Taylor and Mike Kennedy.
In the paddock, you thrilled your New York fans by doing your war dance. You were on your game, and your New York fans loved you. You were a New Yorker who loved to race and you didn't want anything in front of you. You had HEART.
You gave us wonderful memories that have lasted 48 years since you made history.
This year, seven of the eight entries in the Belmont Stakes at Saratoga are related to you. We are wishing racing luck for Don Alberto Stable's Journalism.
God Bless you, Seattle Slew. We love you always.
