8/13/08 - Last Seattle Slew in Training Retired

Karen and Mickey Taylor announce the retirement of their multiple stakes winner and multiple Group 2-placed COUNCIL MEMBER, a six-year-old son of undefeated Triple Crown winner and influential sire SEATTLE SLEW.

7/15/08 - Vindication (2000-2008)

The Slew Crew is mourning the loss of Seattle Slew's champion son Vindication, who was euthanized on Thursday, July 10, during surgery, which revealed an inoperable gastric rupture. We send our deepest sympathies to everyone at John Sikura's Hill 'n' Dale Farm where Vindication stood stud, Virginia Kraft Payson's Payson Stud who bred Vindication, and Satish and Anne Sanan's Padua Stables who raced Vindication during his championship career.

7/7/08 - Screen Your Friend Wins Bashford Manor

Two-year-old Screen Your Friend (Friends Lake) became the first stakes winner for his sire when he captured the Bashford Manor Stakes (G3) Saturday at Churchill Downs. Ridden by Calvin Borel - who earned his 4,500 win aboard the colt - Screen Your Friend completed the six furlongs in 1:10 4/5 over the fast track.

7/7/08 - Suburban Winner Ices Competition

Frost Giant (Giant's Causeway) shocked the crowd and seven other handicap horses at Belmont Park on Saturday, June 28, with a very game victory in the $400,000 Suburban Handicap (G1). Winning his first Grade 1, Frost Giant completed the 1 1/4-mile test in 2:01 2/5 over the fast oval.
